We expect the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 pro Max to be among the best phones of 2024, and although we are still a few months away from the official launch of Apple’s next phones, this has not stopped the rumors about the iPhone 16 from arriving in earnest.

In fact, we already have a pretty solid picture of what the iPhone 16 and its siblings could bring to the mobile table after this year, not least because Apple unveiled its feature-rich iOS 18 update at WWDC 2024. The company’s upcoming software redesign will bring major upgrades for the main iPhone apps on the iPhone 16 and other compatible models, so we are looking forward to the arrival.

But apart from iOS 18, there are many other iPhone 16 leaks to digest, and below you will find everything we have heard so far. For an in-depth look at Apple’s other upcoming iPhone competitors, check out our dedicated iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 pro Max Hubs.

If Apple sticks to Tradition, we expect it to announce the iPhone 16 release date during the 2024 edition of its annual September launch event. It is unlikely that we will learn the actual date of this event until August 2024, but we can use data from past Apple events to predict when the Apple event could take place next year and when the iPhone 16 could hit the shelves.

Apple usually chooses the first or second week of September for its annual iPhone launches, usually opting for a Tuesday, although the company sometimes chooses a Wednesday. The 2023 edition (read: iPhone 15) of Apple’s September event fell on September 12, with the four iPhone 15 models announced at the time going on sale a little over a week after, on September 22.

This means that September 3rd or 10th are most likely the launch days of the iPhone 16 in 2024 (both dates are Tuesday), although September 4th and 11th are also possible. As for the iPhone 15, the iPhone 16 should be shipped a week after the start of pre-orders.

It should also be noted that Apple started manufacturing screens for the iPhone 16 line in June, in line with previous years, which suggests that the phones are on schedule.

Tipsters disagree on iPhone 16 prices

For obvious reasons, we are unlikely to find out the official iPhone 16 prices until September, and the tipsters are already divided on whether Apple will raise or lower prices this year.

Currently, Apple’s lowest iPhone 15 model, the Standard iPhone15, while the most expensive, the iPhone15 pro Max, starts at $1,199/£1,399/AU$2,099. These figures could be imitated by the iPhone 16 range, just as the iPhone 15 imitated the iPhone 14 range on the price front.

However, some analysts predict that the iPhone 16 could actually be affordable than the iPhone 15. indeed, Apple would have modified the manufacturing process of iPhone chipsets, which could have an impact on the prices of the consumer iPhone.

On the other hand, the iPhone 16 could be more expensive than the iPhone 15 due to rising production costs. according to a recent Nikkei Asia report, Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max costs $558 to make. An increase of 12% compared to the equivalent production cost of the iPhone 14 pro Max.

Likewise, we have heard that the iPhone 16 pro and the Pro Max could have more expensive cameras, which could push up their prices.

If production costs continue to rise, Apple may be forced to raise retail prices for the iPhone 16 to protect its bottom line. In other words, we could consider an iPhone16 that costs more than $799 / £799 / AU $1,499 in the simplest cover, with an iPhone16 pro Max that starts at more than $1,199 / £1,199 / AU$2,199.

It should also be borne in mind that Apple could unveil its first branded iPhone Ultra in 2024. Initially, rumors claimed that an iPhone 15 Ultra would replace the iPhone 15 pro Max in 2023, but this did not happen, and analysts are now predicting that an iPhone 16 Ultra could be launched this year instead.
