Recently unveiled to the public, the AGM H5 Pro is a robust smartwatch that shares many design elements with the AGM Glory Pro, while keeping its cost much more affordable. As expected, some features such as the thermal camera and the dual lamp will not be present, but the developers were very eager to keep the design signature of the Glory Pro.

This means that there is always a speaker mounted on the back of the smartphone, the cameras are positioned in the same way and honestly, if I put the AGM H5 Pro and the Glory Pro side by side, I would not be able to distinguish them if there were not different color accents. This means that the AGM H5 Pro is about as robust as the Glory Pro, right? It seems that this is because the Smartphone is IP68 and IP68K certified, as well as certified for some MIL – STD-810h standards.

The manufacturer also seems to have kept the night vision camera, which I think could be useful in some situations, although I suppose a nice niche. The main and front cameras always seem to be the same, which is great because there was a large Sony sensor capable of capturing a lot of light.

But there are also some downgrades, such as the resolution, which is 720 x 1,600 p, and I’ll have to check if it’s actually enough for such a large screen (6.5 inches). And the battery no longer withstands these extreme temperatures, but the silver lining is that it is actually larger with a capacity of 7,000 mAh. I think there’s a lot to untangle with this rugged smartphone, so let’s put it to the test.

The quality of design and manufacture

I knew that the AGM H5 Pro looked like the Glory Pro before I received the box, but I didn’t really expect it to be much the same. Well, at least on the front. The width of the frame, the drip approach of the front camera and even the frame look the same. It is made of sturdy rubber with four raised corners to prevent the Smartphone from breaking if it falls on its side. These raised corners are more pronounced on the AGM H5 Pro, but the protective lip around the screen is the same.

I would have preferred it to be a little deeper for better screen protection, especially since the screen is so large and therefore more prone to mechanical shocks. The location of the ports and buttons on the AGM H5 Pro is the same as on the Glory Pro, which means that on the right side of the frame there are the volume rocker and the power/wake button. And yes, both are made of metal, which is excellent.

On the left side is the custom button, which is orange (on the Glory Pro it was red) and performs the same function – you can set it as Push-to-Talk, camera shortcut, LED flashlight, etc. However, it does not have an SOS function, which is very important for people who travel a lot in remote places and can make a difference if they are injured or lost.

At the bottom of the AGM H5 Pro is a protective cover that, when removed, exposes the USB-C port next to a 3.5mm headphone jack. I didn’t expect that we would reach a point where we would be delighted to see a headphone jack, but here we are (congratulations at the AGM).

What I didn’t like here and also with the AGM Glory Pro is that not all USB-C cables can be used to charge the AGM H5 Pro. This is because the manufacturer has made the channel too narrow, so that only the supplied cable can be used. I think there are always ways to get around the rules of a universal charging port (I bet Apple is taking furious notes). The SIM / microSD card slot is positioned in the same way as the Glory Pro, so you will find it above the custom key and it is also protected by a silicone cover.

I liked that there were no logos or other flashy signatures on the front, because it makes the phone look a little more elegant and serious, but be aware that this is a huge Smartphone. If the 6.5-inch screen wasn’t a gift, you should know that the entire cover is bulky and measures 17.6 x 8.5 x 2.3 cm (6.9 x 3.3 x 0.9 inches), but the best news is that the AGM Glory Pro is less heavy than the Glory Pro and weighs 12.7 ounces,

Yes, you need a good belt when carrying this rugged Smartphone (I mean, you can use it as a self-defense tool..). The Star of the show is the rear, which has a similar layout to what we saw on the Glory Pro.

So, at the top is the round speaker, equivalent to the more expensive Glory Pro, which means that it can reach 109 dB. It becomes noisy, very noisy, but it also suffers from the same shortcomings. I know it sounds cool to have a 3.5W speaker that can reproduce the sound with relatively high fidelity, but how is the sound reflected? Well, if you leave the Smartphone on the table, the sound will be muffled, and if you hold the device in your hand, it will be reflected on the neighboring wall.
